Etac Group to divest powered wheelchairs business to BalderTech AS

Etac AB announces the divestment of Product Business Unit Powered Wheelchairs to Norwegian company, BalderTech AS, effective 01.03.2019.

The new owner will take over the assets related to powered wheelchairs (Etac Supply Hønefoss) and assume the responsibility for service, warranty and spare part deliveries in the following countries: Norway, Denmark, UK, Germany and the Netherlands. The operations at Hønefoss, Norway will continue uninterrupted.

“For Etac, this transaction means a hand-over to a committed owner. I believe that the solution will benefit the Hønefoss employees as well as an opportunity to ensure the future service to customers and end users of Balder powered wheelchairs”, states Michael Wirzberger, Interim CEO at Etac.

BalderTech AS announces to reinforce the market of Balder powered wheelchairs. Syver Anmarkrud, representing the new owners, says:

“We are happy to announce that the agreement will ensure a continued service of the thousands existing wheelchairs out there. We will also invest in further product development and production of the Balder wheelchairs.”
