Etac North America Mobility Introduces Twist by Klaxon: A Versatile Power Assist Solution for Wheelchair Users
Etac North American Mobility is delighted to launch the Twist by Klaxon. This unique manual wheelchair power add-on accessory redefines flexibility and performance in manual wheelchair technology by enabling riders to use Twist in two positions – rear-push and front-pull. Switching between the configurations is seamless with no need to ever lift Twist off the ground. With Twist, riders can confidently navigate their day from home to the office to outdoors and beyond!
Engineered for Versatility, Built for Real-World Use
Twist’s unique design makes it the only power assist accessory (E0986) that can be used in two standard assist configurations:
- Rear – In this setup, Twist preserves the wheelchairs' original footprint –– ideal for navigating smaller or crowded spaces, like offices, restaurants, public transit, or home environments.
- Front –This configuration lifts the wheelchairs front casters off the ground, for a smooth, stable ride – allowing easier obstacle clearance (including curbs), improved terrain handling, greater control and responsiveness, and the freedom to travel further. The front mount position also offers motor braking and speed management – giving riders more confidence when climbing inclines and enhanced safety and control maintaining their speed when descending.
- Front with handlebar –The optional handlebar effortlessly attaches for intuitive control and introduces mechanical braking to ensure stopping power at higher speeds and sharper slopes. This application is ideal for users navigating slopes or more demanding environments. When not in use, the handlebar conveniently folds away and can be stored in a Twist-dedicated carry bag.
The Power to Switch in Seconds
Switching between hub mount positions (front to back or back to front) is quick and intuitive. Simply detach, roll into position, align, and click the device into place. With
this level of adaptability, riders can fluidly move through diverse environments without compromise.
Compatible by Design
Twist connects to most types of manual wheelchairs – both rigid and folding – in front and rear configurations. Twist arrives pre-programmed to the rider’s needs, streamlining setup and reducing workload to support ATPs in delivering more efficient and superior outcomes. When ordered with a Ki wheelchair, Twist can arrive pre-installed and pre-programmed as specified.
Jacki Rettler, Director of Marketing at Etac North America Mobility says: “Having direct access to Klaxon through Etac is a major advantage. Twist delivers a unique combination of dual-mount versatility and advanced configurability that sets it apart in the market. Its ability to adapt between front and rear positioning – and the added control provided by the optional handlebar – offers real, everyday value to riders. Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to bring this level of innovation to North American providers and their clients.”
Personalized Control for Every Rider
Twist is a quality power assist accessory designed with adaptability in mind – promoting reduced strain on the rider’s body and shoulders, while giving them freedom to live life on their own terms. Twist’s advanced control system can be programmed to match individual drive preferences, enabling clinicians and caregivers to tailor performance to the user’s needs, preferences, abilities, and environmental considerations. With this advanced control, also comes enhanced safety for the user. These include features like integrated LED lights, a patented attachment system, and superior technical and service support staff.
Fitted with a Multi-Function Controller as standard, with the option to add an Attendant Controller, the Twist provides an ergonomic and intuitive way to change speed, stop, and start. Both controller options can be easily positioned on the frame through the Quick Fixing System with no tools required.
