Etac has acquired Ki Mobility

Etac has completed the acquisition of Ki Mobility, a leading player within complex manual rehab wheelchairs and seating in North America

Etac, a world-leading developer and provider of ergonomic assistive devices and patient handling equipment, is excited to announce the acquisition of Ki Mobility. The acquisition makes it possible for Etac to provide a significantly broader product offering to individuals, families and therapists in need of complex manual rehab wheelchairs, seating and pediatric assistive devices.

Founded in 2005 by Doug Munsey and Murray Slagerman, Ki Mobility has grown into one of the leading developers and providers within complex manual rehab wheelchairs and seating in North America. The founders started with a vision to design a high quality lightweight folding wheelchair that responds like a rigid wheelchair. Since then, Ki Mobility has launched successful products in almost every segment of complex manual rehab wheelchairs in North America. Although Ki Mobility has grown strongly over the years, the high level of personalized service and attention to detail have remained.

Michael Wirzberger, CEO of Etac, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Ki Mobility into the Etac family. We have known Ki Mobility for several years and have firsthand experience of their high-quality products and services as a distributor for Ki Mobility in Norway. We share the same values and have a common passion for product innovation that improves quality of life, and I am confident that Ki Mobility with its experienced management team, highly skilled employees, innovative products and excellent services fits perfectly with Etac.”

“Our vision is to become a global leader within complex manual rehab technology and patient handling and the acquisition of Ki Mobility is an important step in that direction.”

“To serve our North American customers in the best possible way, we will create a dedicated mobility organization for sales and customer service of our Ki Mobility, Convaid, R82 and Star products in North America that will be led by Doug Munsey, President and co-founder of Ki Mobility.”

Doug Munsey commented: “We are very pleased to be joining the Etac family. We have a common passion for creating possibilities for individuals in need of complex rehab technology and I look forward to continuing the development of Ki Mobility products within Etac and to combine and leverage our strengths in Etac’s new North American mobility organization.”

The shares in Ki Mobility have been transferred to Etac as of September 23rd. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
